Coaching

On my home page I indicated the types of people I work with. On this page I want to be more specific.  The individuals I work with are focused on creating model programs and communities to raise healthy, happy, and safe families. They are innovators and forward-thinkers (or at least have a strong desire to be innovative and think outside-the-box). Sometimes, they have simple ideas that can have tremendous impact.  Their work involves identifying and taking steps to implement their ideas.

At the same time, many of my clients are exhausted from years of service and little recognition and less than desired outcomes for women, children, and families.  They may be at their wits end and want to explore what it means to move away from their MCH careers or what life looks like in retirement.  Having said this, most of these clients ultimately decide to commit even more completely to their work whether it’s through their professional setting or through volunteer/service work they engage in personally.  Many of my clients are designing their retirement and what their work will look like in retirement.

My clients address career paths and career changes; taking their current position to the next level of performance; leaving their unique legacy; identifying and acting upon career advancement opportunities; identifying appropriate professional/personal development opportunities to enhance their leadership; carrying out unique research/practice projects; integrating strengths/interests/hobbies with their public health work; building self-confidence and courage; learning how to express their unique selves; and creating their very personal version of work/life balance.  They also work on self-care and having more self-awareness and self-compassion and less self judgment.

At UIC, I offer a 6-month coaching and leadership development program that begins each January and July.  For more information about this program please visit our website or contact me.

I also work with individuals in my private coaching practice.  In my private practice, coaching typically takes place over a 3-6 month (or longer) time period.  Coaching sessions generally take place over the phone and include 1 1/2-2 hours of coaching every month (2, 45-60 minute sessions). In our sessions, we will explore the issues you want to be coached on, develop goals, and create a timely action plan. You will learn a lot about yourself through this process.  Again, self-awareness is the foundation to strong leadership and to living a fulfilling and balanced life.  If this is something that interests you, please contact me by phone or email.  I look forward to hearing from you!
